John Milton claimed to have done some of his work
during his stay in Horton.
1632-1638 John Milton lived with his father John & brother Christopher in Horton (on the site of the future Berkyn Manor) house rented from Earl of BridgeWater , Sir John Egerton.
1637 Apr 03 Milton's Mother Sara wife of John is buried in St Michaels Horton

Edward Tyrrell 1792-1881
In 1848 Edward Tyrrell buys and rebuilds Berkyn Manor from the trustees of Mr John Cooke. He has 12 Servants (1851 Census).
They are part of the well known Tyrrell family.

Avery Tyrrell 1840-1909
Avery married twice but apparently without issue.
Avery built the stables and other farm buildings

Rare Image: Place House, nothing to do with Berkyn Manor, but the other great house in Horton. In picture the tower of St Michaels Church may be seen.
- Place House , built about 1558, moated around.
- Scawens in residence 1657-1710.
- Let to Thomas Brierwood 1718.
- Francis Brerewood 1773,after legal dispute with half sister.
- Francis spent lavishly on the property,gardens by Capability Brown. -
- Last male heir,he died in 1781.
- Place house empty and partially taken down in 1785.Land rented out.
- Thomas Williams bought Horton Manor and title Lord of the Manor 1795. 1832 House disintegrated and bricks removed .
- New mansion built,perhaps 1834,not on original site .
